The biggest and strongest men from across the British Isles descended on the aptly-named ‘Steel City’ to compete in the infamous Britain’s Strongest Man competition. Held on the 27th January 2018 at the Sheffield Arena, the contest is part of the Official World's Strongest Man qualifying tour with the full raft of WSM competitions taking place later in the year.

One of the stand-out events held in the competition is the deadlift challenge where each contestant is required to lift a pick-up truck as many times as they can. This year’s pick-up of choice (to pick-up) was the Ford Ranger PXII supplied by the UK’s largest 4X4 accessory centre, 4X4 Accessories and Tyres based in Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire.

SuperPro Europe are proud to have been associated with the event by supplying a number of suspension upgrades for the Ford Ranger’s that was used throughout the competition. SuperPro are the preferred supplier of suspension upgrades sold by 4X4AT – including SuperPro’s Easy-Lift Kits which give lift with a lot less effort required than by the competitors of Britain’s Strongest Man!

4X4AT interviewed strong man Paul Smith after the event and asked him “One of our staff members tried to lift the cradle without the truck on it and really, really struggled. You managed 9 reps of our truck, how did it feel?” to which Smith replied “Oh it was heavy, a lot of the time with car dead lifts like that you get an easy part and then the weight kicks in but with this truck the weight was straight in my hands. It was probably one of the heaviest things I have ever dead lifted. It nearly killed me getting 9 out, after the last one I was absolutely done.”.
