Redline and Performance VW Magazines put SuperPro bushes to the test

Over the past few years, SuperPro and its products have regularly been seen in tuning, 4x4, motoring and aftermarket magazines in the UK. This media exposure has not only helped the company build up a credible brand image, but also get the message across to readers about the benefits of fitting the bushes to their cars.

Back in 2010, two magazines in particular put SuperPro bushes to the test:

Performance VW replaced a standard set of rubber bushes with the SuperPro equivalents on a Golf Mk5 GTi. After driving the car for the first time the author of the article said: “Having never had a car with upgraded bushes before, I wasn’t too sure if I’d actually notice any difference behind the wheel as the Mk5 chassis is so good stock. Well, I’m not embarrassed to admit that I couldn’t have been more wrong. How do I describe it other than saying they don’t just make the car feel like a new car, they totally transform its characteristics. Everything just feels more together and sure-footed and even though I’m not always driving around at 10/10ths, you can certainly feel the difference in the way all the elements of the chassis feel more connected to each other, without it being crashy or uncomfortably stiff. In fact, I really can’t see how you could go wrong with a set and as we all know, when it comes to modified cars, it’s not often you can say that!”.

Later in that same year, Redline Magazine asked the question: “Can simply fitting uprated suspension bushes to your car significantly improve the handling?”

Well, after installing a set of SuperPro bushes to a 125,000-mile old Audi TT, they found the answer. Before the conversion took place, they took the car around the test track at Bruntingthorpe, posting a time of one-minute 35 seconds. Then, after the polyurethane upgrade, the same lap was completed a full two seconds quicker, following which the author commented:

“From the first time I turned a corner on the road the difference in the immediate steering response was huge, with the car feeling sharper and more alive from the start; more like a brand new hot hatch than a nine-year old high-mile cruiser. The car feels more settled too, with a better seat of the pants feel, whereas before the flex in the standard bushes made for slightly unpredictable handling at times.

On the track the effect is magnified the harder you push the car, and it feels far more predictable, allowing you to place the car exactly where you want it time and time again. And the lap times were far more consistent than with the standard bushes fitted. The fastest lap time was 2secs faster and so much more fun, a great improvement in anyone’s book. In fact we were so impressed with the improvements that the main limiting factor to putting in even faster laps was the brakes and the slippery leather seats!"
