SuperPro launches Lift Correction Front Radius Arms for Toyota Land Cruiser 80, 105 & 75-79 Series

Specially developed to address one of the common problems when lifting live axle 4x4’s, SuperPro's new Totota Landcruiser Front Radius arms (TRC1016) are designed to cure the 'washing off' of caster that's an unfortunate by-product of raising the ride height of these justifiably popular vehicles.

Few models can claim to be depended upon by quite as many people as the Toyota Land Cruiser, a vehicle that's now as iconic as it is tough! Millions of these off-road machines can still be found scattered across the globe to this day, more often than not labouring away in some of the toughest, most hostile of conditions.

While the live-axle Land Cruisers are incredibly capable machines, it they do suffer from the 'washing off' of caster that occurs when these vehicles have their ride height raised above that of the OE level. Raising the Land Cruiser's ride height alters the relationship between the vehicle's axle, suspension springs and Radius arms, pivoting the axle location and thereby leading to a loss of caster. Decreased caster results in reduced straight line stability and vague steering at higher speeds and creates the possibility of caster shimmy, not a satisfactory outcome when a significant investment in suspension upgrades has been made.

Well aware of this problem having been the originator of the effective offset front bush design nearly 25 years ago, SuperPro decided to relook at this problem with the benefit of more recent material and design innovations.  The objective, to develop an effective, long term solution, one that doesn't entail a weight penalty, yet allows for ideal axle location to be retained. The result of many hours of development and testing (the latter largely undertaken in the legendarily hostile Australian Outback), the firm's Lift Correction Kit is based around a pair of specially designed Front Radius arms. These front arms come with caster correction 'built in'. In practice this allows for lost caster angle to be regained. How much depends on the extent of the lift with nearly 4 degrees of caster available for a ‘Standard’ 50mm lift, and 2.5 degrees for a more drastic, 70mm increase.

Central to the design of the new arms, was the ambition to avoid inflicting a weight penalty. This was achieved by adopting an innovative hollow but strong construction, avoiding increasing un-sprung weight while not compromising off road performance as they are strong enough to handle the rough and ready environments frequented by many Land Cruisers on a regular basis.

At the same time, SuperPro’s engineers decided to take advantage of one of SuperPro's most recent developments by using their new and ground-breaking Polyelast material for the bushes fitted at the axle end of the arms. This innovative material offers all of the longevity benefits of SuperPro’s standard material, resistance to Oil, water, salt, ultra-violet light, petro chemicals etc, combined with increased flexibility and noise and vibration isolation.

Finally, but not least, the chassis end of the radius arm features a traditional SuperPro bush fitted with offset tubes. Careful positioning of these offset tubes allows the adjustment of set-back angles – perfect for ensuring that a car tracks in a straight line and correcting steering pull problems.

An important development and one sure to be welcomed by the Land Cruiser community, SuperPro's new Lift Correction Kit is available now.
